Human trafficking is a universal social problem that has become challenging to curb. It no doubt violates the fundamental human rights of its predominantly female victims. Research consistently highlights girls as the main targets of a variant of trafficking it termed sex trafficking. In Nigeria, lax border control amplifies the problem, turning human trafficking into a lucrative business. Investigating the aftermath of sex trafficking, this study examines the intricate connections between abusive exploitation and the mental well-being of young women survivors in Benin City.

Sexual violence is a global challenge for women and girls, though largely underreported. Particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, 33% of women experience forms of intimate partner violence, including sexual violence, at least once in their lifetime, compared to 27% globally. Socio-economic factors such as poverty, age, disability and substance abuse also exacerbate the risk of sexual violence. Studies on sexual violence in Nigeria suggest that this endemic is mainly experienced by young females, who rarely report and often do not receive the required support for their recovery.

This research looked at the relationship between poverty and child labour in Iyaero Community, Benin City, Edo State. The study objectives were to determine the influence of poverty on child labour and to identify the roles that social workers may play in poverty reduction and child labour eradication in the community. The study was conducted using a descriptive survey research approach.

Contraception is the use of medications, instruments or surgery employed to change the way human body works and prevent pregnancy. This study examined undergraduates’ perception of contraceptives use in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state, Nigeria. The objectives of study were to examine the relationship between poor access to contraceptives and peer pressure in relation to contraceptive use among students. The paper adopted functionalist theory to explain the subject matter. This study employed ex-post facto research design method.

The years-long sexual harassment of female students in Nigerian universities constitutes a serious form of gender-based violence that university administrators appear to have failed in addressing; this was explained by applying the feminist and deterrence theories. The paper revealed that while social control mechanisms exist at Nigerian universities to handle female sexual harassment, there are still considerable issues with their efficiency.
