Over time, yahoo boys have evolved some observable patterns of behaviour that people have come to recognize as their way of life. The yahoo yahoo criminal business and subculture could not have gained accommodation and recognition as a youth vocation if it has no support beyond its criminal networks. This paper sets out to investigate the social and institutional linkages that supports and sustains the yahoo yahoo phenomenon in Nigeria. The study relies heavily on a careful analysis of observable facts in our communities, and an assemblage of secondary data from books, journal publications, newspapers, news/gossip blogs, mass media and the internet. Its findings were that yahoo yahoo business and subculture is nurtured and reinforced by an informal network of accepting and benefiting groups/institutions such as the family, the economy, religious authorities, social media and popular culture, within a general setting of a corrupt and highly immoral society, that is etched on a philosophy of wealth/ success by all means and wealth glorification irrespective of its source.
