ASSESSMENT OF “BARKA DA HANTSI” OF FREEDOM RADIO KANO ON THE PERCEPTION OF PEOPLE OF MUNICIPAL ON FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL

The study aims to assess the programme of freedom radio kano ‘Barka da Hantsi’on the perception of people of Kano municipal on fuel subsidy removal by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and 200 listeners of ‘Barka da Hanstsi’ programme on freedom radio in Kano Municipal were selected for the study. Systematic sampling techniques was used to collect data from the respondents and it was discovered Barka da Hanstsi’ programme has created an agenda for people to centre their discussion on fuel subsidy removal issues in Nigeria 85%. More so, through effective programme strategy and consistency discussion of fuel subsidy removal issues in Nigeria on ‘Barka da Hanstsi’ programme on Freedom Radio, the radio set agenda for every day discussion on aftermath of fuel subsidy removal, economics challenges, business growth and human development. The study concluded Barka da Hanstsi’ has centred listeners’ discussion of fuel subsidy removal issues by enlightening the masses on economics effect, its challenges on Nigerians and the country at large. However, the study recommended that Manager of ‘Barka da Hanstsi’ programme should always ensure the government or its representative is present during the programme to address peoples’ concern
